You’ve said I do, you’ve danced, partied and had the best day of your life. Now you need somewhere awesome to stay and unwind.

If you are planning to get married or elope in Melbourne, then thinking about where to stay for the night should be on your to-do list. Have a think about what style of place you want to stay in. Modern, classic or industrial feel? Does your inner romantic expect some champagne on arrival and a wicked dessert selection or are you more interested in finding a good brunch spot near by?  To help you find somewhere to unwind after your rockin’ night, I have prepared my top pick of hotels and accommodation in Melbourne.

The Blackman

As part of the Art Series, the Blackman is a distinct space to relax and kick off married life. Every aspect of the hotel is complemented by the works of Charles Blackman, making it a pretty unique space. It has a great location on St Kilda Road and is close to St Kilda Beach so you can drop and flop or, if you don’t feel like leaving the hotel, you can relax and drink a couple of Pimms by their pool. If you are a coffee lover, grab a coffee in the morning from Slater Street Bench, which is one of my favourite coffee spots in Melbourne.

Park Hyatt

Looking for something luxurious for your wedding night? Then the Park Hyatt is your go to. It has wicked views of Fitzroy Gardens and St. Patrick’s Cathedral and is only a short walk from Melbourne’s CBD. The Park Hyatt has all the personal touches you’d expect from a luxurious hotel, including some great romantic options and suites that will bring to life your inner cupid.

You can upgrade your stay to include a romance package which includes a bottle of champagne, strawberries and a late check-out. The breakfast in the hotel is unbelievably good – you can get it delivered to your room but I’d recommend the buffet (I can’t believe I am saying that but it really is amazing).

The Olsen

Located in South Yarra, the Olsen is a great place to stay if you are looking for a modern twist and is located within one of the best shopping areas in Melbourne. Have breakfast in their Spoonbill restaurant, then use one of the complementary Olsen smart cars (they are really tiny!) to make the most of the shopping on Chapel Street and around South Yarra. Spend the afternoon by the pool or at the day spa to really unwind and head out for dinner at any of the nearby awesome restaurants. One of my favourite dumpling restaurants is worth the short walk or two minute drive to Hutong Dumplings…it is a Melbourne icon!

The Adelphi

The Adelphi offers a fun and inspiring avenue to let your hair down and experience the city scape. The Adelfi is literally the sweet cherry on top of your wedding day – they are known as one of Melbourne’s most unique places to stay because of their dessert bar. It’s set on Flinders Lane, a seriously great laneway for all the culinary senses. The hotel is in a boutique building that is full of colour and unique furnishings. Grab a drink or two at the cocktail bar downstairs then head up to your room to unwind. Follow up the next day with breakfast at Cumulus (you have to try the crumpets!)

The Coppersmith

If you prefer a more traditional setting, consider staying at the Coppersmith on your special night. The setting combines old-world charm with modern amenities. As a boutique hotel they only have 15 rooms which creates a sense of privacy and compliments the uniqueness of the space. Coppersmith is located in South Melbourne and is really close to some amazing restaurants and galleries. The fab South Melbourne Market is also just a short walk away (make sure you try the famous Dim Sims!).

QT

If you love design and style you will love staying at QT. Luxury meets minimalism in this wickedly designed hotel. It is edgy, chic and filled with modern art and designer furniture – it is definitely not your traditional hotel. QT is located in the fashion district or ‘Paris’ end of the CBD which is great if you want to sneak in some shopping. QT has some great restaurants to try in the hotel if you don’t feel like leaving your designer abode, but if you do head out take a short walk and head to Rice Paper Scissors and enjoy one of my favourite hawker-style restaurants in Melbourne.

Ovolo Laneways

A great representation of the city’s hidden avenues, the Ovolo Laneways is close to some amazing cafes, bars and restaurants within Melbourne. It’s a fun, unique and playful stay. Take in the city from your own jacuzzi on the terrace or let your hair down by playing a game of pinball. It’s a rad place to stay and will suit people with an urban style. The Ovolo Laneways offers several different room styles that each contain modern furnishings.

These are the kinds of unions that           get me excited - real, raw and so damn in love.
